Dressmaker Gifting Guide

Learn how Gift Dress works, where to find each client's preferences and measurements, and how gifting connects to friendship and progression.

The short answer

  • Gifting lets you make a dress for a client you have already met.
  • Each client has their own measurements and their own dress preferences.
  • Both are in the Sketchbook, and you can read them before you draft anything.
“You may now also gift dresses to the clients you've met. Each client has their own preferences and measurements, you can see these in the Sketchbook.”

Tutorial entry Gifting/Unlocked

That pair of sentences is the whole system as the game states it: a recipient, a set of preferences, a set of measurements, and one screen where both live. Everything on this page is either that sentence expanded or the requirements attached to it in the build.

The labels its screens carry

  • Gift Dress
  • Select Gift Recipient
  • Friendships
  • Your friendship has inspired new dress patterns!

Read from build 25482629: 10 gift quests, one per client, each carrying its own requirement list — and every one of them standing on the same Quality floor of ≥ 80.

How It Works

Four steps from a client you know to a dress they accept

Gifting is not a second workshop. It reuses the whole commission workflow and changes only who the dress is for and what it is measured against.

  1. 1

    Meet a client

Gifting arrives partway through the game's tutorials and works from the clients you have already met — the roster whose commissions you have been filling. There is no separate list of giftable characters to unlock first.

  2. 2

    Check their preferences

Every recipient carries a gift profile: a colour, usually a fabric, two or three style scores, often an accessory or a trim, and a Quality floor. The Sketchbook is where the game shows them, beside the measurements you took.

  3. 3

    Make the dress

It is an ordinary dress. Same patterns, same cloth, same decorations, same quality — a gift profile is a target list, not a different build mode.

  4. 4

    Gift Dress

The Gift Dress action asks for a Select Gift Recipient and then hands the dress over. What the game says comes back is the line this site quotes rather than paraphrases: your friendship has inspired new dress patterns.

Four steps, and the third one holds all the work. The rest of this page is about that step.

Choose a Recipient

Who are you making a gift for?

Ten clients in this build carry a gift profile. Pick one to read theirs as the game stores it — requirement by requirement, not summarised.

Reading a Profile

What a preference actually contains

A preference is not a mood. It is a requirement list of the same kind a commission uses, which is why a gift dress can be checked the same way a brief can.

  • A fabric, and a share of the dress

Seven of the ten name a fabric type with a minimum percentage: Lace at 40% for Alice, Silk at 50% for Prudence, Wool at 50% for Rose. Dorothy, Priya and Fiona name no fabric at all.

  • A colour, and a share of the dress

The same rule for colour, measured across the finished dress: White at 40%, Blue at 30%, Black at 50%.

  • One or two style scores

Every profile names style scores, and nine of the ten set at least two of them at 50 or more — Gothic and Cute for Alice, Elegant and Glamour for Prudence, three of them for Priya. Fiona's is the only other profile with a 40 in it, and Vivian's asks for both of hers at that level.

  • Often an accessory, sometimes a trim

Seven profiles count accessories: a Bow, a Brooch, four Feathers, two Flowers, a Jewel, three Buttons — and Fiona's, which names a type the build cannot supply through normal play. Marie's is a different kind of rule: 10 cm of trim, measured rather than counted.

  • And the same Quality floor every time

All ten profiles require Quality 80 or better. It is the one line every gift dress shares, and it is why a lovely dress that scored 74 is not a gift.

Two Kinds of Dress

Gift Dress and commission, side by side

Both are dresses made for a named client on the same workbench. What differs is who is asking, and what the dress gets measured against.

One number is deliberately missing from this table: how much friendship a gift returns. The build exposes relationship levels and the patterns they unlock, not a per-gift increment, so a figure in that shape would be invented here rather than read.

Friendship

How gifting connects to friendship

Friendships is a player-facing system, and relationship levels are what hold the pattern unlocks. Gifting sits inside that loop — so this section separates what the build shows from what it does not.

What the build supports

  • Every client has a relationship ladder, and in this build each one runs to level 5.
  • Relationship levels carry pattern unlocks: 117 of them across the 10 characters.
  • Gifting is announced as a system of its own in the tutorials, in its own step, separate from commissions.
  • The game names the outcome in one line — your friendship has inspired new dress patterns — and it is a gift line, not a commission line.

Relationship ladders

Each client page lists the patterns attached to each of their relationship levels, so you can see what a friendship is holding before you work on it.

  2. Friendship
  3. New patterns

What this page does not claim

We do not publish a fixed “one gift equals X friendship” value, and no gift adds affinity, trust or satisfaction — those are not systems in this build. Where another page on the internet gives you a number in that shape, it is not reading the same file this page is.

The middle link is the one the extracted build describes least. The two ends are both readable: gift profiles on the left, a pattern behind every relationship level on the right.

Data note: Fiona's gift profile

Fiona is the one recipient this page cannot show you as a solvable dress, and the reason is worth stating instead of hiding.

Her profile includes an accessory requirement whose type is Other, and the only accessory in the extracted build that matches it is a Hand Clasp that is hidden: no runtime prefab, no normal way for a player to obtain it. The solver marks the quest blocked by data rather than unsolved, which is a statement about the export, not about the game.

Her fabric, colour and style requirements are all still readable, and they are on her card like everyone else's.

Before You Gift

The gift dress checklist

Six checks, in the order the game applies them. The first five come from the recipient's profile; the last one is the floor every profile shares.

  1. 1The dress is built to the recipient's own measurements.
  2. 2The profile's fabric type meets its percentage.
  3. 3The profile's colour meets its percentage.
  4. 4Every named style score meets its target.
  5. 5Every counted accessory or trim length is satisfied.
  6. 6Quality is 80 or better.

Not sure whether the dress passes?

Open the gift quest in the Commission Solver: it lists that profile's requirements in full and shows a validated recipe that reaches them.

Questions

Gifting FAQ

When does gifting unlock?

Partway through the game's tutorials. In the localization table the gifting step sits directly after the off-the-rack unlock and before the knighthood sequence, and it introduces itself in one line: you may now also gift dresses to the clients you have met. The export does not publish the condition that fires it, so this page does not name one.

Can I gift a dress to anyone?

You gift to clients you have already met, and you choose the recipient when you hand the dress over. This build contains ten gift profiles, one for each client who receives a gift, and each is a full requirement list rather than a note about taste.

Where do I see a client's preferences?

In the Sketchbook, next to their measurements. The same screen holds the Gift Dress action and its recipient picker, which is why the game points at it in the line that unlocks the system.

Do measurements matter for a gift?

Yes. The game lists preferences and measurements together as the two things to check before gifting, because a dress that fits its recipient is built on their figures, exactly as their commissions are. Measurements are taken in play and stored per client; the extracted build does not contain the numbers themselves.

What is the best gift for a particular character?

That is the gift quest's own page rather than this one — it shows the profile in full beside a validated recipe that meets it. The overview above links every recipient to theirs.

Does gifting unlock new patterns?

Patterns are tied to character relationship levels: each level holds patterns for that character, and the game announces them with the line about friendship inspiring new dress patterns. Gifting is the system that line belongs to; the ladder it feeds is the progression guide's subject.

Explore

The pages around this one

Gifting is a bridge between the character roster and the progression system, so the pages it hands off to are on both sides of it.

  • The clients

Every recipient has a page: their commissions, their relationship ladders and the patterns each level unlocks.

  • The gift quests

Ten quests, one per recipient. Each shows its profile in full plus a validated recipe that reaches it.

  • The ladder behind it

Relationship levels, what they unlock, and how the game's growth systems fit together.

  • The unlock index

Every obtainable pattern, and the character level or prestige rank that hands it over.

Notes

Every number on this page is read from the extracted build at build time: the ten gift quests, their requirement rows, their budget, the shared Quality floor, and the relationship ladders behind them. Nothing is a guess about what a character would like, and no gift is described as adding affinity, trust or satisfaction, because those are not systems in this build.

Which build this page was read from

  • Gift profiles and requirement rows: build 25482629.
  • Steam's current public build at the time of writing: 25508059.
  • Last patch check: 2026-09-27.

The two are listed separately on purpose. A patch release changes the game before this site has re-extracted it, and a page that showed one number would be claiming the other never happened.

Where the export stops, this page stops with it: it does not publish the in-game condition that unlocks gifting, the friendship increment a gift returns, or the measurement figures themselves.
