Diagnose first, then repair as little as possible
The fixer is not a recommender. It reads your dress, tells you which rule is failing, and only then looks for the least you could change.

Why is my Dressmaker dress not passing the commission?
A commission checks a list of requirements — style scores, cloth composition, accessory counts and lengths, variety, and a quality figure. A dress fails when one of them is short. The fixer measures each one on your own dress and names the ones that are short before it suggests anything.
Can I fix my dress without changing everything?
That is what this page is for. It searches decorations first, then cloth, then whole parts, and stops at the first plan that clears the brief. Keep any piece you want and the search cannot touch it.
How is this different from the Commission Solver?
The solver ignores your dress and returns a complete legal recipe from the brief alone. The fixer starts from the dress you already like and changes as little of it as it can. When no small fix exists, the fixer says so and hands you to the solver.
What if the fix needs an item I have not unlocked?
Candidates behind an unlock are offered with the level they need printed on the card, or hidden entirely when you ask for only what you can get now. Hidden and development-only items never appear at all — they are not in the data this page reads.
Why can't the fixer close the quality requirement?
Quality is scored while the garment is cut, fitted and sewn, from your measurements, grain placement, fit and sewing accuracy. A pattern, a cloth and a trim do not decide it, so no change on this page could honestly promise it. The fixer explains that instead of inventing a number.
Does applying a fix change my saved build?
No. Applying a fix changes the dress on this bench, in place, and you can undo it. Your saved builds in the Dress Builder are untouched, and the address bar carries the repaired dress so you can keep or share it.
Can I keep my pattern and still fix the commission?
Yes. Every pattern, every cloth and every decoration carries its own keep toggle, and the patterns and the cloth already on your dress start out kept. The search cannot touch a piece you kept — release only the ones you are willing to lose.
Can the fixer keep my fabric?
It starts that way. The cloth on the bench stays put until you release it, and when a part cannot be reclothed without breaking something, the page names that part and the lock in the way rather than quietly ignoring it.
Why does fixing a style score push me over budget?
Because a dress is one garment. The decoration that lifts Elegant also costs coin, so a fix can close one requirement and open another. Every suggestion here is rechecked against all of them, and the before-and-after table prints the cost and the scores that moved, so the trade is visible before you apply it.
What is the difference between the Commission Checker and the Dress Fixer?
The checker only reports what is short. The fixer takes the same measurements and then searches for the smallest change that closes them, keeping whatever you asked it to keep. If your dress already passes, the checker is all you need.
What if no valid fix is found?
The page names what it was not allowed to touch and offers to widen the search a step at a time. If nothing inside your limits works, the honest answer is a different dress, and the solver is where to get one.
Does the Dress Fixer guarantee the commission can be submitted?
It promises every modelled requirement passes on the dress it hands you, checked with the same arithmetic the game uses. It cannot promise the game accepts it: a missing piece or a stuck Finish button is a state problem rather than a requirement problem.

A Dressmaker commission not passing is almost always one requirement out of several, and it is usually one of five kinds: a style score such as Cute or Formal, the share of a colour or a fabric type in the cloth, the number or the length of accessories, the variety of what the dress uses, or the quality figure. The first four are decided by the pattern, the cloth and the trims you chose, which is why they can be diagnosed from a dress and repaired by changing it. Quality is decided while you cut and sew.
To fix a dress rather than rebuild it, start from what is short. Raising a style score usually costs one decoration or one cloth swap. A colour or fabric composition requirement usually needs a small panel reclothed rather than the whole skirt. An accessory count or a trim length is a decoration you add or extend. The fixer searches in that order — decorations, cloth, then whole parts — and keeps any piece you lock. When nothing inside those limits passes, the honest answer is a different dress, and the commission solver is where to get one.
