How to Size the Mannequin in Dressmaker

Use the client's bust, waist and hips measurements to set up the mannequin before you continue building the dress.

The three measurements the mannequin is sized to.

Client measurements

Bust
84
Waist
66
Hips
92

Example values — yours come from the client.

Before you start

You need the client's measurements first

Sizing the mannequin is applying numbers you have already taken. If the client has not been measured yet, do that first — there is nothing to match the mannequin against until then.

You should already have

  • Bust
  • Waist
  • Hips

Missing one of these?

Measure the client first.

The Measuring guide covers what each number is and how the game records it.

Size the mannequin

Five steps from the client's numbers to the mannequin

Each step changes one measurement. Check all three together before you confirm — Fit reads them as one figure, not three.

Step 1

Open the mannequin sizing controls

Open the mannequin sizing controls and keep the client's measurements visible while you adjust. Drag the measuring tape onto the mannequin, then turn the gears to change its proportions.

Match the ghost outlines as you turn the gears. The outline shows the shape the client's numbers are asking for.

Step 2

Match the bust

Adjust the bust until the mannequin's bust matches the client's bust as closely as the game allows.

The bust is only the first of three. Matching it does not finish the sizing.

Step 3

Match the waist

Adjust the waist until the mannequin's waist matches the client's waist measurement.

Do not stop after matching the bust — Fit checks multiple measurements together.

Step 4

Match the hips

Adjust the hips until the mannequin's hips match the client's hips measurement, then read all three measurements back together.

All three measurements, on the mannequin

  • Bust 84
  • Waist 66
  • Hips 90

Example values only. Your numbers are the ones the game recorded for this client.

Step 5

Check the overall sizing before you move on

Fit is based on the combined difference across bust, waist and hips. A mannequin that is close on two of them and far off on the third is not sized yet.

A row that still reads a small difference is the one to adjust before you continue.

Fit

How mannequin sizing affects Fit

Fit is the distance between the client's measurements and the dress on the mannequin. Sizing the mannequin is where most of that distance gets closed.

  • Closer mannequin and dress measurements lead to a higher Fit.
  • A larger mismatch leads to a lower Fit.

Fit contributes 20% of Quality when the dress is made from the client's measurements.

See the full Quality calculation

Not every dress is made from customer measurements. When a dress is not, Fit may not be part of its Quality at all — check the work in front of you before assuming it needs sizing.

Why do small size differences matter?

The game compares the bust, waist and hips differences together. A larger mismatch reduces Fit much faster than a tiny difference does.

Troubleshooting

Common sizing problems

Nearly every sizing complaint is one of these five. Each one ends where its answer lives.

  • Bust looks right, but Fit is still low

Check the waist and the hips as well. Fit is judged on all three together, so a mannequin that only matches the bust is not a sized mannequin.

  • All the measurements look close

Recheck the exact values rather than judging the mannequin by eye. Fit is a difference between numbers, not a resemblance.

  • I cannot see the back or the side

Turning the form is a control question, not a sizing one.

  • I cannot see the size clearly

Getting closer to the mannequin is a camera question, not a sizing one.

Controls

Rotating and zooming are not sizing

Sizing is the numbers. If the trouble is turning the mannequin or getting close enough to read it, that is a control question and it is answered on its own page.

Changing the view never changes the measurements.

Not the mannequin

Which one actually fixes this?

Sizing is one dial. Two others sit beside it and get blamed for its problems.

  • Mannequin or pattern?

    Mannequin
    Controls the size reference.
    Pattern
Controls the shape of the garment.

A different pattern changes the shape of the dress, not the client's measurements. It cannot close a sizing mismatch.

  • Mannequin or fabric?

    Mannequin
    Controls the size reference.
    Fabric
Changes material, colour, cost and style contribution.

A different cloth does not replace correct sizing. It cannot move the mannequin closer to the client.
