Style target solver
Dressmaker Style Solver
Set the style scores a dress has to reach — and the ones it has to stay under — then take a pattern, fabric and decoration combination that gets there.
The same scoring engine the Style Calculator uses measures every combination here, so a build found on this page reads the same score there.Game data build 25482629
What do you need?
A target is a style and a direction: at least this much of it, or at most this much. Both belong here, because a brief that says "not too Formal" is a ceiling.
A maximum is how you avoid a style. The game's own filter raises a tag but cannot hold one down, which is what "keep Formal under 20" needs.
What can change?
Arrive here from the Dress Builder, the Style Calculator or a Commission and you can also hold the parts you like and search around them.
Builds that hit your targets
Closest to target first: a build that clears Elegant 50 by one point is a better answer than one that clears it by a hundred.
Set a style target and the dresses that reach it appear here.

How this search works
Four rules decide which dresses are found, and each one is the game's own arithmetic rather than a shortcut.
The cut adds its own tags
A pattern adds its tags outright, so an Elegant bodice raises Elegant on every dress it lands on, and a negative tag drags the style down just as directly.
Cloth is weighted by part
A fabric's weight counts for the share of the dress its part speaks for — bodice, skirt, sleeve and collar — so the same cloth moves a skirt more than a collar, and a part that cuts nothing drops out of the split.
Decorations fade as they repeat
The first of a kind is worth the most and every repeat is worth 15% less than the one before it, and each placement adds to Elaborate whether the dress wants it or not.
Every result is measured, not estimated
Candidates are narrowed first and measured exactly afterwards, and only a dress whose every target passes is reported as valid. Anything short is shown separately and labelled as a dress that does not pass.

How do I get Elegant 50 in Dressmaker?
Set Elegant to at least 50 and the dresses that reach it come back closest to 50 first, each with its pattern, cloth and decoration terms printed underneath. When nothing reaches it, the reason is named instead of left as a blank.
Can I avoid a style instead of raising it?
Yes, and that is the one thing the game's own style filter cannot do. Switch the direction to at most and set the ceiling — Formal at most 20, say. The filter raises a tag; it cannot hold one down, so a brief that forbids a style has to be solved backwards.
Can I keep my pattern and change only the cloth?
Yes. Come in from the Dress Builder or the Style Calculator and switch to keeping parts of your current dress: tick the bodice and the cloth you want to keep and only the rest is searched. Every result then reports how many pieces it changed.
Do I need accessories to reach a target?
Not necessarily. Set decorations to none and the search uses patterns and cloth alone. Decorations are weighted last and fade as they repeat, so they close small gaps well and large ones badly.
Why does the solver call a target impossible?
Because the pieces you locked cannot get there. A locked cloth that pushes a style hard can put a ceiling or a floor out of reach whatever fills the rest, and the responsible piece is named rather than reported as a plain failure.
Why does the same dress score the same here and on the calculator?
They read the same numbers, because one scoring engine measures both. The calculator starts from a dress and reports its scores; the solver starts from scores and returns the dresses, which is why a result here can be handed across and read identically there.
Where to go next
A solved dress is a starting point: open it on the bench, measure it, or read what the styles behind it mean.

What the solver answers, and what it does not
The solver takes style targets and nothing else. Quality, colour, fabric type, decoration count and commission budget are not constraints it accepts, because a search that took them all in would be a commission solver rather than a style one.
Inside a target, though, the answer is exact: every dress reported was measured by the same engine that scores a dress you built yourself, so a result is a dress you can make and submit rather than an approximation of one.
