Off-the-rack profit planner
Say how much Prestige you have, how well you sew and what you are willing to spend. The planner prices the dresses you can make and answers with the build that earns the most Coin for the materials it costs.

Four answers are enough: what you want, your Prestige, the Quality you can sew and your labour figure.
Prestige raises what every dress sells for.
The Quality you expect to sew at the machine.
The labour value this dress carries. It is part of the price, not a Coin you pay.
The most you want to spend. The budget goal searches under this ceiling.

Labour is part of what the dress sells for, so it is never taken off the profit.

Every door below carries the dress with it, so nothing has to be typed twice.
One subtraction decides everything below: what the dress sells for, less what the materials cost.
The spending side
Cloth is the only Coin a dress really costs. Buying it takes money out of the purse before anything is cut, and a dress that goes wrong leaves that bill behind.
When a dress is already in mind, the cost calculator prices exactly that one, part by part.
The earning side
Off-the-rack means making a dress with no brief behind it and putting it in the shop window, so the money comes in on your own schedule.
What sells and how fast is the part no calculator can tell you, and the guide covers what the shop window rewards.
Questions
There is no single best dress: it depends on your Prestige, the Quality you can sew and the cloth you can afford. At low Prestige and Quality a cheap dress usually wins, because every Coin spent on materials has to come back through both bonuses. The planner prices the dresses you can actually make and shows the one that came out ahead.
Only while the bonuses are worth it. The sale price multiplies a material bill by the Quality bonus and then by the Prestige bonus, so a dearer cloth earns more than it costs only when the two together beat 1. Raise the expected Quality and watch the profit move before any money is spent.
Yes, and it is worth getting right. The game adds a labour value to the materials before the bonuses apply and does not publish the rate, so the planner asks for one figure and prices every dress with it. The same figure is printed under the result, and it is never subtracted from the profit.
Because it does not price every combination. It samples the largest and smallest cuts of each part, the cheapest and dearest cloth within your budget, and a few decorations on the best of them — far too many dresses to list, but still a sample. So the result is the highest-profit build found, not a proven maximum.
It is the same chain the sale price sheet replays: materials plus labour, multiplied by Quality and then by Prestige. That is what the dress pays when it sells at the shop window, so the profit shown is the Coin left over after the materials were bought.

The two guides own the money system; the sheets beside them price one dress, and the catalogues show what it is made from.
About these numbers
Fabric and accessory prices come from the game's own shop figures, and the sale price is the same chain the sale price calculator replays.
The labour figure is yours: the game adds a labour value to every dress without publishing the rate, so all the dresses below were priced with the number you gave.
A patch that moves a cloth price, a Prestige gate or a bonus changes every figure here.
