How the Dressmaker Commission Solver works
A Dressmaker commission is a set of requirements: style scores, fabric composition, colour percentages, trim lengths, accessory counts, a quality threshold and a budget. The solver stores validated dress recipes that satisfy a requirement set, alongside the exact score each recipe reaches for every requirement, so you can see the margin instead of trusting a claim.
Recipes come from a bounded search over the game’s own items, not from one hand-written walkthrough. That is why a cheaper or lower-Prestige dress is labelled “Found”: it is the best the search actually validated, not a proof that nothing better exists. Unlock requirements are read from the same game data, so a Prestige level or a client’s friendship level is the number the game uses rather than a guess.

Is there only one correct dress for a commission?
No. Different combinations can satisfy the same requirement set, which is why published walkthroughs are a starting point rather than a single answer. The solver keeps every dress the search validated and lists them under Other dresses that work.
Why does my quality score differ from the one shown here?
Quality is scored while you cut and sew, not when you choose the pattern. The solver covers the design requirements: style, fabric, colour, trim, accessories and budget. Your final quality depends on grain alignment, rotation, how accurately you fit the mannequin, and how cleanly the seams land.
Can I solve a commission with only unlocked items?
Usually yes. Switch to Use My Unlocks, enter your Prestige level and your relationship level with each client, and the solver only considers dresses you can make right now. If nothing qualifies it names the single unlock you are missing and where it comes from.
What does “Lowest Cost Found” mean?
It is the cheapest dress among the solutions this search reached, not a mathematical minimum. The candidates come from a bounded scan of the game’s item combinations, so a cheaper dress may exist that the scan never tried. The word “Found” is there to keep that honest.
Why can't the solver guarantee the quality requirement?
Because quality is a crafting outcome. The solver can prove the design passes, and it tells you exactly what the brief asks for, but only your cutting, fitting and sewing decide the final number.
Why does one commission show no dress at all?
One brief in this build asks for an item that no normally obtainable item can match. Rather than invent a dress, the solver publishes the brief and the exact requirement it could not satisfy.
Can I keep a specific pattern or fabric?
Yes. Open the goal and budget panel and lock the pattern, fabric or accessory you want to keep. The solver then arranges the rest of the dress around your choice. If nothing valid survives, it names the locked piece no dress can keep instead of reporting a bare failure.
What if no valid solution is found?
The page names the restriction that removed every dress and offers to relax them one at a time: a higher budget, another pattern, or the items you have not unlocked yet. When an unlock is the blocker, it shows the closest future dress and what that dress needs.
Does the solver use my own progress?
When you enter your Prestige level and your relationship levels, only items you can make right now are considered. Your progress stays in this browser. Without it, the solver falls back to public items and prints the unlocks each dress needs.
